I' m comin in from left field. eh
I' m in NW Ohio and fish mostly the Maumee and Lake Erie. Due to the toxicity of the water same fish species have a consumption advisory of about four ounces per month. So I began to wonderin if the fish were put in fresh water, how long would it take to get all the toxins worked out? If it' s even possible. Could you throw it in a tub and in a month or whatever the toxins have worked out?

Toxins ussally collect the most in fat& fatty tissues the most& organs like livers etc.
Bottom type fish& feeders collect lotsa those heavy metals( mercury, lead many others etc ..& the bigger fish even predeters collect it becuase if the food chain.
The leaner the meat / flesh the better ... sometimes i think things are overplayed about toxins etc..but then again it varies & somethings are harmfull - some not always right away tho.
Im not normal lol & i grew up around lake erie , love canal, nigara river & dioxin [&:]& eating lotsa fish etc.
They used lotsa lead in gas etc in those days too , by there parts per nillion etc... i should have been dead long ago& brain dead long before my death[>:]

Cball, You thought Lake Erie was clean? You' re joking right? It seems almost every year they tell people not to swim in Maumee Bay State Park ' cause the water toxins and such are too high. I remember a time when I was younger that I went swimmin out there for a few hours and it turned my hair green. Imagine what it does to the fish. eh I' d like to keep some of the fish I catch, if I could just get it out of my head how toxic they' re supposed to be.
