We do not have them up this way either, but it sure looks like a big one to me.. Congrats!, I can't tell if you or the children likes it the most!! It's great to keep the children interested in it as well!!

Nice fish ..but I don't think it's a channel..it's a Blue Catfish..

They are both similiar..
The blue cats' tail does not notch as deeply as the channels
The channel has a yellowish side with black specks..
They are very similiar..also the channel does not get as big as the Blue Catfish

Its a channel cat. We stockedthem in this farm pond years ago and they have grown UP WELL!!

He was just over 14lbs!!!!!! It was stocked about 8 years ago. My dad feeds them but they are HARD to catch!
