So heres a group pic. These were my first ever burbot and I managed to land 8. The biggest burbot I caught was around 6 pounds which is probally pretty average and the rest were 5 and up. The pike was 6.1 pounds and 30 inches

They looks just like a blackfish ( bowfin ) to me that have a different color pattern on them. Nice catch, and if it is anything like bowfin, it takes a native country woman that has a secret recipe to cook it right and scrumdidlyumptious, if not it tastes absolutely horrible.

Congrats to you!!!
Those things you call burbots are what we call cusk.. and yes they are great eating but a mess to fillet.. Great in a chowder or deep fried they are a great tasting fish most anyway you want to cook them..
We have no limit on them here and you are allowed to night fish them..

A burbot is pretty much a fresh water cod so the meat is just like fish sticks
