Here's what our newspaper reported this morning..


1 - Around Lakeland, a tournament out of Lake Parker on Sunday produced an eye-opening weight of more than 27 pounds for Jimmy Todd and Tom Saxon. Their top fish was 8 pounds. Brent Howlett at Stone's Outhouse said "hourglass'' and rock piles in Lake Crago yielding best fish on Parker with crankbaits and plastic worms. Bass to 24 inches at Tenoroc in lakes 3, 4 and 5 on shiners, reports Brian Fleming. Bass 3-4 pounds on medium shiners at Saddle Creek Park, reports Lee Phillips at Phillips Bait and Tackle. Limits of specks at Tenoroc in lakes 3, 5 and C on minnows. At Saddle Creek, specks to 1 1/2 pounds, with 10-15 per trip on minnows and Hal Flys (blue and yellow). Half-limits of specks at Parker and Gibson. Few sunshine bass off pier at power plant on Parker. Also, Teneroc is yielding bass up to 9 - 10 pound bass at Lakes 2 and 3.Jim Margist boated a 9 1/2 at Saddle Creek this past week before the front flipping watermelon seed Gambler worms.

Awesome report. Up here, people catch big fish and do not tell anyone. It is almost like sinning. You tell one person, the whole town knows, the your honey hole is everyones. We don't have the large lakes you guys do though.

note..bottom right..Combee Settlement..this is where I teach.. 1/2 inch above the B in ComBee Settlement is where my classroom is..:)Note islands and water on bottom right.This is Saddle Creek Park..I'll be there 3/4 of the time..NOte the white line going through the center.of Saddle Creek..I have the entire right side..no boat ramp..canal dried up..

Note the large lake..this is where our power plant is .It's Lake Parker..follow the canal at the extreme north end of Parker...it turnsto the right ..That is Lake Crago..Note the top left...See my favorite HAWG lakes..one is shaped like a fish hook..and one like a set of legs..LOL they are management catch and release lakes..Lake Fish Hook and Leggs Lake :)THEY ARE HOT!! The extremecenter and right are the rest of Tenoroc Mine's lakes.Decent fishing..:)

Except for Parker...a jon boat is all ya need..

PS ..You can't see it but my home is 2 miles south of Lake Parker.I'm 4 miles from my classroom.

hey chuck, many moons ago i was at Lonnie Stanley's shop in Huntington TX. (Stanley jigs fame) and he told me and my team tournament fishing partner that as soon as the moon was full in Feb. head shallow, the fish will be trying to do their thing, i have caught more big fish in Jan/Feb. and his advice has always proven to be beneficial.

now go get'em we will be fishing the "HNI tournament" but with the kinda fish in your area, i know I'll be fishing for 2nd place;)...

BTW, me and the misses have been talking (alot) about a Mexico trip next year, if we do be forewarned;)you and josh both;)

I beleive your right MT..last year Matt and I was a few weeks too late..I wish the HNI tourny was this Sat,.,but that's OK..I'm thrilled to see you and your wife on the tourny..

It will be tougher this year without shiners..Shiners, your guaranteed to get a hog every outing..Flipping they seemto catch me off guard,,hold on.MT....is that a hit???

Those worms you sent me worked good for me up here, so I am sure you will be able to get a big one on.. Also up here folks have told me to use those pumkin seed lizards in the early part of the season..

Most fellows use dark colors..Our lakes are murky..
Black or grape ..I like real soft plastics..

Thanks Chuck, this is one of the areas I hope to be fishing, if I can get my boat fixed.. I have covered some of these with my canoe but always to hard to fish where you want to because of wind. Big Lake here is just west of me, if I can put my boat in this year I could travel 10+ miles by water..

Here is just across from where I live and as you can see there is alot of water going by. This is great for salmon in the spring and white perch and smallmouths, and for those who want to fish for bluegills and yellow perch or chain pickeral this is tops.. This is just east of Big Lake and the water from Big Lake runs down threw here. To the South is Pokey Lake and one of the few lakes that have largemouths in it. So I am hoping to have my boat in the shop by spring so I canget a whole lot of fishing done.;)That little dark spot on the map here is about where I live up here..

Thanks for sharing Phill..looks beautiful.I like the variety of fish you have up there.Fresh salmon must be great..I've never caught one..I wish we had the means to swap a trip..Monster bass for a salmon trip..I still may do some shiner fishing at Saddle Creek to get a 10 pounder..I will not record him for the tourny..only artificails for the tourny.

I also promiced my best male{3rd grader}student a bass trip sometime in Feb..Actually I was given4 tough boys by the principal this year.Most do not have dads. I said,"The boy who can behave until Feb. will go with me for a once in a life time bass fishing trip." I've done this for a while now.One boy has earned it..All his grades went from failing to passing and behavior is wonderful. He was scheduled to be in a special class with discipline kids.He no longer needs it. I'll take some pics when we go. His mom likes me and his dad is in jail. He will fish with shiners in the back while I bump a worm. I plan to give his mom a nice 8 x 10 picture of his best fish and take him out to Mc Donalds when were done..He's really pumped and the other boys wish they had made better choices.That trip will be on Fish Hook..:)

that is one of the coolest things ive ever heard. for me always being so polite and handy for my mothers retired friend, i got permission to hunt some of the best land around. i have seen 2 out of 3 biggest deer there

Neat man...I give alot of money out too.
Why??
1.These days..their grades keep me employed.

2. I figured if I was a mechanic I'd be buyin ga wrench now and then..So I spend money on incentives to do their best..Our fall scores were 2nd highest in the school..1st highest in my grade level..

3. Thereare tons of pressure on teachers that NO KID is Left Behind..not even mentally handicapped children. I currently have 2 mentally handicaped children and one non English speaking Spanish boy..
I feel that teachers make good money and they should work their butts off...I don't mind working..

The worst part..principals lose points { The feds give or take away points to fund us} when we suspend kids..Therefore; there is very little discipline in the schools.
a. Kids can cuss out teachers in the elementary grades.
b. kids can hit teachers if they are in special education.
c. Kids can refuseto work

my class has been blessed so far..no real problems..and they love learning. I show videos of the previous years of bass fishing to the kids..;)Today, I wrote a paragraph on crappie fishing.They had to write fact or opinion after each statement..Example..Today is a great day to go speck fishing. Most of the Florida lakes contain specks. :)

It's good to hear ya got a great place to hunt..I'm jealous.;)

thanks i think im going this weekend. it is the last weekend of archery. season closes thursday. yeah i have been doing more crappie fishing than bass fishing this winter. they are very pretty

That sounds like a great thing to do for them..Stuff like that helps to make the world a better place to live in..

Our county is the Meth capitol of the world..dead serious..6 of my 16 students' parentsare in jail over meth/ crank.

Of course there is the possibility of getting accused of sexual abuse. Trust me..I get to know that parent and child very good before he goes fishing.I don't take girls.Because of this..I may upgrade and get a longer boat..I'd loveto get a 14 -16 foot Aluma weld with a 15 -25 HP..This way I could take 2 kids..I have been checking the paper..As teachers we are COMMANDED to have a conference at least once a month. Dustin's mom is very sweet. She trust me.Dustin is a very good boy.He has never caught a fish.:DThis will be fun.
I can't beleive this kid had a rap sheet a mile long last year..
He's been an angel for me. I may take 2 more .Chris has missed 22 days of school and is begging to go fishing..We may strike up a deal ...as well as Ryan. I've got a great rapport with all of these moms..

FALSE ALARM..

Matt and I fished our butts off this morning..Saw 3 beds total. . LOL, they are not spawning yet..probably a false report so the tackle shops can sell shiners. :DI got one bass from Saddle Creek and no hits at Fish Hook..so me and my son bowled 5 games..I ended up winning by 1 point.:D
Also, the ramp at Fish Hook is not too bad..A bigbass boat got in..

Yes sir we had a great time..We realized we needed to add some stuff to my tackle box..:D

1. A small adjustable wrench to tighten up his seat..
2.Forgot the wire cutters..couldn't break my Power Pro to change lures..
3. WE did find an awesome spawning spot for when they decide to spawn..REmember the picture of the lily pads..the bass were there but hard to get to.Well, Feb. and March there are only stalks..The pads will grow back in April..That area looks good. I got one from there on a red shad worm today..

Right now..those pads are not there {only dead stalks from last year's pads}..neither are the fish..THe fish are in the 14 -20 foot part suspened or in deep brush piles..I will check this area out though before the full moon..I did manage to get one buck there yesterday..It will also be a prime place for an MT Jig, Heddon Topwater, Strike King spinner bait, Minus 1., or Floating Rapala..;)..and yet all of those are only second to a Texas rigged rubber worm presented with the right presentation..:)
