Default 22" BULL HEAD

I was at the taxidermist looking at all the trophies, and I saw a catfish getting mounted. I asked the taxi what was so special about the fish, he said it was a bullhead. It was 2 pounds short of the state record, and was 22" long.

Indiana has the record though... 7lbs. One of the ponds I grew up fishing was full of 3-4 lbers... man that was fun.

Do you know what species of bullheads your were catching, brown, yellow or black? Just wondering because we have some black bullheads in our pond and they are pretty small but it would be nice to know if I could grow them to the 3-4 pound range with some good management.

They were Black bullheads and they actually fight pretty well when they get to that weight. I actually started catching them by accident when I was crappie fishing. When I targeted them with a little chicken liver I started catching the bigger ones.
