Finally got enough ice. I am surprised at the quality of ice we have. A goodtwo and a half inches was enough for me. Got a few nice fish in about an hour.

I know that lake better than I know myself. I fish it almost everyday of my life. 2 1/2 inches is usually a little sketchy, but it was good ice, so no worries hear, just a few cracks when your walking. (haha)

Hearing a few cracks while out on a lake would make a stream of warm liquid run down my leg.

A couple guys are always the first ones out on my lake. They usually go out on about 2 inches with the 4 wheeler with both of em on it. I usually wait a week after they go out. Friggin crazy man.

I wouldn't go out with anyhting other than myself on the 2 1/2 inches. I don't even let another person come with me for the fact of the extra weight.

Pretty sure it is a specialty ice fishing rig with a flasher/rod holder/ I have no idea what else they can do

It is a Vexilar Fish Finder. It will tell you the depth of the fish and usually a pretty good estimate on the size. Best thing in the world for an ice fishin' fanatic. Believe me, you pay for it, but it is worth it if you take care of it!

I can't imagine waiting for 5" of ice. Half the season is over by that time. I am usually on the ice at 1-3/4".
