Anyone like monster sunfish???
Theres a pond up the road from where I live that had abnormally large panfish introduced to it quite some time ago by the land owners. The land around it was sold off to someone else and the pond was widened but the new owners had no idea there fish in it. A buddy and me asked if we could fish there and they gave us permission. We caught some nice 18" walleys (yes in a pond), tons of 17" bass...and above all else some monster 'gills. Check these things out, our Wisconsin state record is 13" and the following was 12"!!! Better yet, the smallest bluegill we caught was 10" and we had about 15 in total! This is my friend with that 12 incher...

This was the shortest yet fattest one of all. It measured 9" long and 11" around. You can just see the girth below its gill! Just thought I'd post some pics to see if you guys are as amazed as we were!

yeah this pond is just perfect, its deep enough, it has weeds and good cover as well as plenty of food. Like i said these big gills have been in there for awhile. when we were fishing there we COULD NOT catch anything smaller than what was pictured above. i'd never seen bluegills that big before that, infact the first one i caught i thought it was a bass reeling it in!

Those are monsters. I have never seen gills the size of those. The lakes I fish only have them in the 5-8" range. I would love to fish for those mosters. Especially during the ice season!
