I guess to each his own..When ask for an opinion your certainly going to get a wide range of them..

Personaaly ,I would never spend more than 50.00 on a reel.{Unless I ws fishing tournaments}Why...I fish a whole lot..and this one is still casting long..no bearing wobble and had done me good. I've landed many hawgs on it...still keeps going. When I see another in Walmart..I'm going to get it. I've had this one for 5 years..still my #1 reel.

For baitcasters, I'm a huge Quantum fan for bass rods. Energy's and a coupleAccurists'are the only thing on my rods.

All of my muskie rods are Abu Garcia's though.

I think what i am going to do is buy the citica for $119 and replace the bearings in them with new ones and i will have a reel for less than $175 and will be as smooth as ones worth $300.

Mr. Josh Keller...maybe so..but the proof is in the pudding. I posted alot of hawgs this year .Most were caught on this 36.00 reel. now I will agree to buying expensive line.Power Pro is worth every penny.

I am strictly a quick-fire spinner reel fisherman. Its got to have a quik-flip bail. Last night I went out and got a Shimano Solstace 4000fh and a 6ft ugly stick. Its a very smooth 5 ball bearing reel. Tournament comeing up in fla. in feb. so if I like this rig, I'm getting 3 more duplicates. They have to be quik-fire cause if I had one reel where I had to flip the bail, it would throw all my sangranisity (sp)? off when ever I grab another rod from my asernal.

If you plan on any saltwater fishing at all then definitely buy decent reels. These cheap 50 dollar specials that Chuck loves so dearly will rust on your in no time. Note that a 50 dollar reel might last you 5-10 years but a good reel that is properly taken care of will last you a lifetime.

I have 2 main combos i use for fresh(bass crappie) and salt(red speck flounder;bay fish)water
1.Abu garcia 4500 reel on castaway 7ft medium action rod. Rod=50$ Reel= found in junkyard and made it a treasure
2.Shimano Bantam reel on shimano ojourn 6ft 6in medium-heavy action rod. Rod=20$ Reel=?, they dont even make them any more but my dad had them for a long time and i "adopted" it
