Anyone else ready for ice?

With archery season about 2 weeks away this time of year always gets me excited about ice fishing. Anyone else ready for the hard water? I am going to be working on building a perminent shanty over the next few weeks. Will be nice this year to be able to sit inside a warm shelter instead of my portable clam.

Bring on the cold!!!!

Do you already have the plans for your shanty? I was going to work on drawing some up this week.

it would be sweet if someone started an ice fishing contest later on this year.

That would be a sweet idea I like it.

Entering 2 tourneys this year up north. Joining the "Frost bite open" and of course "Tip up town" Dont know if anyone is familiar with either one of them, they are in Mid Michigan.

I am hoping to do some tournaments in southern Wisconsin this year. I was also planning on doing the Trap Attack series this year but they haven't posted anything yet so I don't know if I will be able to swing it on short notice since I usually have to take a day off of work to make some of the far events.

A Huntingnet tournament/contest sounds like a great idea. Not sure how that would work but I am sure we can come up with something.

I think we should push for a tournament. If not create one ourselves, im sure the fine people of this board wouldnt care.

I can't wait. What a great time of year with hunting starting up then hard ice from about mid Dec to April here. I ice fish commercially almost every day in the winter for perch, gills and crappie. We pull them all winter here on Champlain.

I love ice fishing, but with my knee messed up??I will be planning on having the work done to it by the end of January. So hopefully by the end of MarchI will get a couple of good weeks in.

Ice fishing being fun and all I would much rather be fishing on a 70 degree fall afternoon then the dead of winter anyday

What do you have to get done Phil?

I will be having it scoped and cleaned up. Arthuritis, bone spurs and bone splinters all will be getting removed. I have been putting it off and currently trying to put it off until after hunting season and hopefully Christmass. So I figured around the end of Janurary would be better if I can get by that long. During the scope they will know if i need anything else, I hope not as the doc says I will be tied up fro 6 to 8 weeks..

Dont get me wrong bikini's are nice but when you hook into a 40+ inch pike threw the ice its better then watching girls in bikin's cause at least you can touch this eye candy without gettin arrested:D............did i just say touching a pike is better then watchin a girl in a bikini[&:] oh man intervention time

Phew that was close... much better now:D

Ice fishing and hunting are hands down my 2 favorite activities but if you would rather do that then hang out with a girl like the one pictured you are nuts. Think you need to stay off the ice this year and have your head examined!

Good luck with that Phil. I had a scope job about 7 years ago to fix a torn meniscus. Really wasn't too bad andI was up and around in a couple of days as opposed to the 5 months on crutches in 77 when they did my ACL. Modern medicine is great.

RE: Anyone else ready for ice?

If you have an ACL repair even today you are going to be out for a long time.

ice fishing for notherns is hands down better than fishing for them during the summer. the thrill of 3 tip-ups at a time can't be beat. get some buddies together and set out 15 of 'em!!!! man im getting excited just talking about it!
