Default Hey Chuck

I don't know if you are still looking for Mepp's comets but I was at my local Gander Mountain and they were stocked up with tons of them so I assume Mepps is still making them. Just wanted to give you the heads up. (I get a laugh every time I think about you throwing the white rooster tail... I just imagine some guy pulling up beside you asking you how you are doing and what you are fishing with and when he sees the rooster tail he replies "Man there aint no trout in these lakes!")

I appreciate that my friend..Mepps Comet is one of the best Crappie lures I know of...maybe the best.(I get a laugh every time I think about you throwing the white rooster tail... I just imagine some guy pulling up beside you asking you how you are doing and what you are fishing with and when he sees the rooster tail he replies "Man there aint no trout in these lakes!") You are 100% right! When I first came here I would be outfishing everyone..Those pro guys would be asking me what I was using them and I would tell them. I don't think anyone else uses them down here...Yestersay I wasn't doing well so I ask God to help me fish...I remember MTHands said about falling for gimmicks..I felt my heart say..go backto the basics..the way I usedto fish.I'm sure it was God teaching me back then..I usedto catch a lot of nice fish so I fished that way yesterfday.

.I would simply cast my Rooster Tail along the shoreline..The thrust of me pulling in the lure would propel the boat forward very slowly..then I would cast a Carolina rig in back of me and lay my rod on my knee. When I had a bite I would put the Rooster Rod down and set the hook on the Carolina rig...

Or....my other way...simply pitch a worm on the shoreline all morning..I did a little of both yesterday morning..
I think I'm the only who fishes Rooster Tail down here..Every local tourny I've won has been on the Rooster Tail...I've lost count of the 5s and 6s I've caught on that lure.
