Hey Largemouth guys how about info on smallmouth bass?? THX
Hey bassfishers.. i know a majority of you guys go after largemouths but i am looking for info on smallmouths! I will be floating the river this weekend for them this weekend and i have no problem catchin any on jigs and such but i plan on throwing mostly hand tied spinners in hope to catch some trout in the process! So what im gettin at is i saw where a few of you guys use white roostertails, panther martins, and such do smalmouths like a specific color? I know a lot depends on water color, clarity, depth and such but what style, color would you guys be throwing at smallmouths right now? THX all!

use the clown color and greens and match the lure to the bottom of the terrain your fishing thats what i was told a while backand i believe it works or match it to the vegetation in the water.

anything in a minnow or crayfish color should produce. The main thing about a river is the fish have a very limited amount of time to make the decision to strike or not, and are often easier to catch than lake fish.

I do a lot of river fishing for smallies, mostly with live bait though, but one I really like using pink and white combos. Its a color pattern that has always produced fish for me up here in WI. Otherwise, I agree with what's been said. Anything the color of the bait in the water is generally a good bet.

My 2 favorite lures for smallies are the rooster tail and the rebel crawdad, no doubt about it! 1/4 oz. r.t. in lighter colors. Rebel craw, reeled slowly, even stopping occasionally near the bottom, is deadly.
