On the rivers throughout east central MO, my dad, uncle and I have been trying to find winter bass fishing on the rivers. We ad a pretty warm weekend a few weeks ago and decided to head out for the weekend to one of our likely wintering holes. It's a good mile stretch of 6-10 ft water with about 2-3 miles upstream and downstream nothing but shallow short eddies that are better suited for warm weather fishing. The water temps wre in the low 40's and the air temps ranged from the 30's to 50's. Well we got into the fish that weekend catching, 50+ each of the two days we fished. Big fish included a 3.4 lb largemouth and a 2.8 lb largemouth. We through 3" watermelon senkos on 1/16 oz. texas rigs and fished pretty slow. Anyone that has a good bass river can do this as well. Find the deepest water around with no current and the fish will be there.
