Well, my friend and I have had MAJOR luck with powerbait in the winter.
The Rainbow Trout here in the N Georgia mountains love the power honey worms. I have caught my limit on the red ones...in the cold.
I actually caught one of my biggest trout last Feb. And; it was on powerbait honey worms. The brown earthworms are good as well.
However, the live cricket is THE BEST trout bait EVER!!!!

Bucktails work good but remember it is slow fishing, Mickeyfinns & Red and Whites work OK. You may also want to try Joe's Smelt, I also think a few nymphs may still work for you. Good Luck if you can stand the cold out there with a fly rod in hand.

I went out to the streams this past Saturday. Decided to sleep in and try the trout instead of waking up at the crack of dawn to sit in the woods. Even afterthe sun was up for a couple of hour, it was still cold enough to freeze the guides on my fly rod. I didn't see or catch any trout. Tried my luck in the woods that afternoon for some deer. But the dam fox hunters came riding their horses right under my stand.IfI would have spoiled their hunt, they would have been the first ones to have me arrested for tresspassing. Pretty stupid to be riding thru the woods during rifle season.

The fox hunters were on the land I have leased for the hunting season. The piece of land they were riding thru, leading to my land, I belive they didn't have permission to be on that piece as well. I think they were 2 or 3 properties away from where they were to be hunting. They sure as hell didn't ask me to have access to ride thru. they just spoiled all of our hunting trying to find their dogs.

What do you mean? Were you really trespassing? If you were...too bad you did'nt shoot a mounted fox hunter.[>:]
