I use shimano clarus. I have3 for spinning and 2 for baitcasting. Great for the money and lifetime warranty, I broke a couple before and brought it back to the store and got a new one, no questions ask.

I'm a fly fisherman. Redington fly rods and reels.

My favorite is a hand made (trout) bamboo fly rod my father bought me in Scotland 20+ years ago. The quality and details are incredible.

RE: What pole do u use?

the old Berkely Lighning rods used to have a lifetime Guarantee on them. im talkin about 10-15 years ago(the eyes had yellow and orange thread around them and a big yellow lightning Rod logo, when IM-6 first came out)...you could just take the broke one back to Walmart and they'd give you a new one no Questions asked...nothin better than buying a pole for 23$ and beatin the hell out of it all summer and then taking it back in the winter for a new one....they dont do that anymore...but they are still the best bang for your buck "all purpose" pole...

dont get me wrong fenwick, G-loom and ST. Croix areVERY nice poles with great Balance and construction but the average guy doesn't want to spend 100-300$ for a single pole....

i do have one Fenwick 6.5 footer and i have it matched up with my Bullet proof10 year old million cast Shimano Calcutta...model 100(i think) and its my favorite...the Calcutta is worth ever bit of 165$$ id pay 250$ for one if they made me...ive abused that thing...and it doesnt break...still is smooth....they just dont have anything on them to break...clean them up once a year and fish all season...no worries.

For the freshwater fishing that I've been picking up the last year (trout), my Ugly Stick Ultra Light does the trick without question!

I have a 5 ft. UL that my dad made...I've prolly caught thousands of fish on it. I have to quantum rods for baitcasters and many other custom made rods by my dad.

RE: What pole do u use?

I have 2 Ugly Sticks.

UL 5' 0" With Shakespear Sigma 200 and 4lb Berkley Trilene XT. I use this probably the most of anything. It sees creeks for brookies, cutthroats, and rainbows, and resivoirs for trout and smallies.

Med 6' 0" With Quantum Long Stroke SS 3 and 10 lb Berkley Trilene XT. I use this for trolling for trout and bass, and also for shore fishing with bait (worms or powerbait).

I am a big fan of these rods. They take a lickin and keep on tickin. I also am a big fan of Berkley Trilene XT. I have tried other lines. Spider Wire, Stren, and a couple others, and nothing stands up to the abuse I put line through like the XT does.

Later,

Marcial

Quantum Bill Dance series 6"6' Medium action with a Lew's baitcasting reel

For spinning gear it's a 6"6' medium action custom rod with an Okuma reel, very smooth, dependable and not too hard on the wallet.
