Biggest bass?

How much did your biggest bass weigh?

KonaBoy 11-03-2006 08:54 PM

RE: Biggest bass?

Smallie - 23 inches. Caught in the spring on a white bargain bin spinnerbait. I'm guessing she weighed at least 5 pounds. Have caught at least a dozen over 20 inches

Largemouth - Dunno, bout a foot [8D]They're only in one lake in Quetico Park around here and it's a good days paddle to get to them, so I don't fish'em very often.

small farm pond fish (i could cast all the way to the other band with a spinning rig)

unfortunately there were no scales or decent cameras around so a buddy snapped this with his phone.

that's your run of the mill baby 1- on his lip there for size comparison.

And yes, he's still happily living in the pond :)

This may or may not be the biggest Large Mouth Bass I have ever caught. I rarely ever weigh the fish that I catch. I think he is about 4lbs.

I fish farm ponds and beautiful Lake Lanier, Georgia.
I'm more of a brackish water, and trout stream man.

Diawa reel/Berkley Cherrywood 6.0' rod/Berkley Vanish Gold 10lb test.

I have caught quite a few 6+ lb Smallies
Never had much luck with Largemouth, although I did catch a 7-8lber in a pond once.
I never weighed it but I caught a Striper that was as long as my leg out of the spillway @ Barren River Dam in Kentucky

RE: Biggest bass?

Last year I was turkey hunting down in Missouri. The land owners invited us over to the place for dinner and to do some fishing on their farm pond. We were killing the crappies when he mentioned there were some big bass in the pond. At that instant, I put a buzzbait on my line and started walking along the edge of the pond. After a few casts, I pulled in a 8 and a quarter pound largemouth. I also got my first turkey that day. That's about as good of a day as they come.

either he didnt weigh him...or he used one of those goofy cheapo dollar general spring loaded scales...17 inch = 3-3.25lbs in almost every region of the world and thats a generous estimate.

congrats guys them r some big bass!!!

RE: Biggest bass?

about 7 pounds was like 17 inches long
that fish would have to have a 24" + girth to make 7 pounds

now that would be a "football"

My personal best largemouthwas 8.5#s out of the stock pond near our house. The next day, I caught a 9 #er.:D I was only about 10 or 11 at the time, and I haven't broken that record yet.

The stock pond went dry in 1983, and we drained it and deepened it. We seined the fish out before we drained it. There were over a dozen fish in it weighing over 12#s, and one weighed 17.6#.
