My brother in law called me today. He told me that the lake we fish in all the time is being pumped for irrigation.
The lake was about 10' lower than last year and they are pumping about a foot/day for the next month. What a shame.

I had this happen to one of my fav lakes. We had some wildfire's so they lowered the lake level to get water down stream to help combat the fires.
It dropped about 15 foot and the fishing stopped for at least 7 months. It is a shame.

I fish this littlesand pit and SMC is pumping it dry so that they can reach down and get at more sand. The strange thing is we cannot figure out how to catch em even though it is about 1\3 of its nomal size and we have yet to find a dead fish washed up on shore.

It is always a sad thing to have any lakes drop down to low or no water.
Now the fish appear to get smarter?,I think it is more of a thing like their
food is being brought to them. Like crayfish in the shallow parts of the water are being forced to go deeper as the water drops. So, now the fish
just lay around the bottom waiting for dinner to fall down on them. With
all that food being forced down to them why would they bite? But, now when the water rises the food will not be where it should be making it
harder to find. So this surely will upset a lot of things on the fish.
Good Luck !
