My biggest is 15 1/2" from a small stream in the UP. Never done any lake fishing so that one is a real trophy for me. Great colors too.

That is a nice fish phil. I have caught some nice brooks out of a local lake, 17-18in. My biggest river fish was around 15in. Every year I get a few that are in the 14in range. This year has been good, I have landed5 or 6over 12in and last time out I landed a 14iner.

Last time out I also landed a 15n brown and the time before that a 19in brown. Have had some luck on my side this year.

Yooper mike, that is one big trout for the UP. I live in MQT were you at.

Those are all nice big brookies IMO and I have never caught any browns and only one rainbow as they do not have them here.

I have caught two brookies that were about 24 inches each. The first was when I was about 12. I was fishing in a small pond on my Dads land. I was just fishing with a worm on the bottom of the pond. My Dad was surprised he never caught anything bigger than 12 in.
The second was on a river in Maine. It was a total fluke, I was standing on a big rock casting a spinner all thru a deep hole. All I caught was a 7in brookie. I was thinking about moving on when my finger slipped and the spinner dropped into the water right next to the rock. I started to reel in and the line stopped I thought I had hooked a stick but it started to swim away. It wasn't much of a fight I only had about 4or 5 ft of line out.

I ate a mess in PA in 1965. They were cooked outdoors on a Coleman cook stove in a frying pan. One of the best eatting fish I've ever eattin. Right up there with waleyed pike and redfish.
