caught my first fish of the year

I didnt take a picure so you will have to trust me on this one. I caught a 15in white sucker on ultra light tackle. I used a panther martin spinner (black body with dots and a gold blade) and i had asmall shineron one of the hooks. Man did that thing fight! The only reason i didnt take a picture was because I HATE THE NOISE THEY MAKE WHEN YOU GRAB THEM! They gag and i cant stand it! I will gut a deer i will grab a frog... i will poke Rosie Odonnel, but i will NOT grab a sucker!

They are very good eatting. Where I was raised they were the only decent fish I caught for a while. Their roe is tasty as well.

Never heard of white suckers either, but yesterday was the first time I've been out and actually did any good. The boat docks and a pinkjig+yellowgrub+spinner was playing havoc on the crappie...and one catfish
Fried 'em today with some of my buddies and ooooooohhhhh that first fish-fry is so good, always.
Keep up the good work

Yeah,
When I was a kid we used to call them mud suckers. Then I got a fish book by Herbert Zim. I learned the real name was Northern White Sucker and on the bottom of the discription it said "Tasty flesh." They are kind of hard to catch as a kid. They bite pretty good in the early spring. Ya throw out a worm and fish the bottom without a split shot i sbest because....when he bites your line barely moves. This is the kind of fishing tha tya say, "Shoot I 'm moving cause I aint gettign any bites , not knowin gthere is a fish on there right now. They just suck that worm down and stay put sometimes.

Yeah, they do fight pretty good. Caught one last spring on a sluggo [&:]Thought I had a huge bass cause it was pulling so hard and I just saw a big black shadow rising up. He weighed a good 5 pounds. Let him go though, already had some bass to eat
And congrats on your first fish of the season
