And the final score is....

Last week was my spring break, which I spent wisely......fishing. I went to the D/FW metroplex to fish with my cousin. He lives on Lake Alverado, and has a bass boat. We fished Alverado Wednesday and Thursday, catching a bunch of sand bass, a few largemouth bass, a catfish, and a crappie. The wind was blowing hard both days, and the fish were in about 8 feet of water off two points. Casting wasn't very effective, so we started trolling, and got bite after bite using white shad-colored crankbaits. They weren't the magnum-sized sand bass I was hoping for, but all were at the 11-13" range, so I took the opportunity to fill my freezer with some fish filets.
Then we went fishing on Aquilla Friday got skunked.[:@]

Sand bass (white bass)they do. When they are schooling I've caught several hundred in a weekend. Then I'll keep a few and have a fish fry, but I prefer crappie, or catfish..

I tried to catch crappie on some minnows, but no such luck. The only crappie I caught was one that took a crankbait while I was trolling for sandbass.
And I like catfish, too. But catfish are a lot worse about being hit or miss flavor wise. One may taste great, but the next may taste terrible.
