on colombus weekend me and my fishing buddie and going to eastern maine to do some smallie fishing before the season end. I've heard that the smallmouth are down deep this time of year. I was thinking about using a jig-pig, finess tube, and mebey a texas rig salamander. what else should i be using? would a deep runing crank bait work good?

i would think with the cooling water they would be very active, i would be thinking spinnerbait, match the hatch for size and color, fin out what the primary forage is and get after em

well this was the worst weekend i've ever gone fishing. if any of you haev watched the weather lately you'd seen the terential downpoors in the north east. from saturday to mondaywe got 10 inches of rain(9.63 close enough to 10). so i didn't catch any smallmouth because i didn't take the boat out but i was able to pull out about 6 small pickerell from the dock in the rain with a hard jerkbait and a spinnerbait. i'm hoping to go back in 2 weeks
