Default First King Salmon from shore

Caught my first ever king from shore at 1:30am today off the pier on Lake Michigan in Michigan City Indiana. She hit on a glow in the dark green KO Wobbler. Put up a good fight, came to the net 3 different times, then turned and ripped off about 60 yards of line each time. The fish was 30 inches long and full of eggs.

Awesome!!! Your hooked now. Did it hit like a truck?

My friends and I drive from the Chicago burbs 1 hour to Racine harbour in Wis. to fish for these mules. As soon as September comes around we can't wait to hit them. I have luck on the glow green krock.
good luck.

I was hooked just from the thrill of catching several off of charter boats. I had never gotten one from shore and wasnt sure what to expect in terms of what the hit would be like. Everyone told me they hit light in the fall. Everytime i felt a bump i would jerk, but most of the time it was weeds.

When this one hit, i knew for sure it was a fish. She didnt slam it by any means, i would say it felt similar to a smallmouth bass hitting a lure. It was just a real fast thump and then i set the hook and the fight was on. She made 3 different runs and tried hard to spit the hook, but i had the trebble hook buried in her upper mouth. It took me 5 minutes to dislodge it with my pliars. I plan on making one last trip either tomorrow night or Thursday, the run has just started where i was, most people were getting skunked as of last week. It will only get better. Its a 2 hour drive from my house though so i cant go as much as i would like.
