only ownd 2 22mags in my life. both of them marlins both of them GREAT guns. one was blue/wood one SS/synth i sold the SS cause i like the tone down shapes. my magnum has alot of kills under its belt. Ofcoarse i and a firm beleaver that any gun will make the shot, its up to the shooter to make it happen.

Dont know about the savage, but i do like the .22 mag. But I feel it falls in that to big to small category. To big for rabbits and squirrles, but to light for coyotes and such. I like the .22LR for small game and I like my .22 hornet for bigger game. My mag doesnt get much use anymore.

I like the Ruger the best and the Marlin second. I think the Savage rimfires are cheap and I don't like them.

Don't own a Savage myself, but saw one at the range last summer. The guy had a 4x scope mounted (unknown brand). The rifle didn't look like much, but it sure shot darn good. You could cover his groups at 50yds. with a dime! I think he said he paid about
$150 (+/-) for it, incl. the scope.
I looked into getting one of these rifles myself, but found out that Savage has all their
22's made in Canada.[:@] A phone call to Savage confirmed it.

My 22mag. is the Ruger 77/22 with target grey stainless barrel, and laminated stk.
Scope is the Leupold compact 3-9x. A very accurate rifle.

i ended up getting the savage. got the model 93 with the stainless on composite. added a 3-9x40 silver target scope ,black rings and a 14-24 harris bipod. seem to shoot real well at a 100 yards.

i don't have any savage rifles but i do have a marlin 22 mag. it came with a 3-9 scope used for $125. i've never had a problem with it. the only remotely wrong with it was that it had a little surface rust. that's it.
