Default Highest Quality Scope for About $250

I know, everyones going to say for another $100-$200 you can have this or you can have that but the $250 is after I already added $100. With that being said, I want to know what is the best for around $250 in a 42 or 44mm objective and in a 3-9 or 3-10 power with standard features (non illuminated, duplex style reticle, standard 1/4" turrets, non-AO, etc..).

Thanks for any help

I agree with Aim at Deer - Cabela's has the Rifleman series Leupold for under $250. A couple of other scopes that have great optics in that price range are the Nikon Buckmasters and the Bushnell Elite 3200.

I would prefer audiable click stops (not friction) and "multi" coated optics so I'm going to rule out the Rifleman or VX-1.

I see a 3-9x40 Buckmaster can be had for under $150 (new) , wouldnt the Monarch being priced at $259 be that much better? I want to get the best value for as close to $250 as possible.

I see the Bushnell 3200's in a 3-9x40 can also be had for under $175 (new), I was hoping by adding around $75 more, I can find something that would be roughly that much more in over-all performance.

Keep throwing the ideas at me though.

Thanks

If you are willing to go $9 over your max, the Monarch could be your next scope.

no need spending $200 for a 44Mag. SWFA has the AETECS for $129 it's a far better scope. Plus the Master Series Aetecs will be out any day now for about 180.00- $220.00.

Personally for $250 I would take Roskoe's advice and add $9 then get you a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40. I don't know how you feel about Burris but they are still $199 for the 3-9X40 fullfield II w/ free spotting scope or Binos.

If you are interested in the Monarch, check out at the optic zone.

www.theopticzone.com

They have the 3-9X40 Monarch in gloss finish for 239 bucks.

I think I am leaning towards the Monarch and heard it is the best scope to be had for around $250 but wanted to get a second opinion. So far I think you all seem to agree.
