Default Ruger 10/22 ammo

I recently bought a ruger 10/22 and have been using federal premium ammunition and I am having poor accuracy and the shells are getting stuck in the chamber. I thought it might be the gun so I used some Remington thunderbolt ammo and it worked fine. I was wondering what ammo you use and what you think is the best.

By the way, I use the ammo mainly for target shooting.

For my 22's I just have a stockpile of different ammo I push thru it. My 10/22 seems to like old CCI classic the best but also liked the stingers second. It also hated Federal Target, hated all target ammo. Hated any of the cheap remingtons.

wow that surprises me, usually Federal premium stuff is hot enough to cylce in all autoloaders....the only ones I have ever had problems with were a box of OLD Federal standard velocity, the old blue and white box with the lightning bolt on it.

CCI mini mags proved the tightest pattern in mine, I shot about 6 or 7 different brands on the same day of testing. Those Aquila hyper velocity ones had the worst group. probably 3" at 50 yds if i remember correctly.

I'm long thought that I just got lucky...but my 10/22 (completely stock) remington subsonics in 1/2 at 50yards all day. There the only ones I actually "papered". Didn't feel a need to try anything else. Have yet to get a single jam. (I've put the better part of a brick through it) just my 2cents

I have been using Winchester Wildcat $7.99 per 500 .
It groups just about as good as match ammo out of my 10/22 and 1/3 the price of good match ammo.
I have been using it in a local club league , came in 3 over all .

My 10/22 seems to prefer Federal Classic 38gr. HVHP, though I'm still planning on trying others as well to see how they shoot.
