Default Ruger Super Redhawk

I was was thinking of purchasing a Ruger Super Redhawk in a .44 Rem Mag for hog hunting, and I was wondering if anyone has experience with this gun. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i have a super redhawk in 44 mag. its the 7 1/2" barell. i have killed 2 hogs with it . the firs one was hunted with dogs and i had federal hydra shock hollow points. it was really mad and eventualy charged me. three shots took him down. the second one was stalked and never knew i was there. i was using reloads this time with 300 grn. hornady xtp's. this little piggy never took a step. i highly recomend the super red, and never plan to sell mine. will probably hand it down to my son. they are bankvault strong and the big frame and bull barrel balance it nicely and really help soak up recoil even from stout reloads. i hope to take a deer with it some day.i would also stay with the 44 mag. the cannon cartriges available now in the rugers are difficult to be accurate with and are a good way to get a flinch. a good bullet in the right place kills not balistic charts! i will dig up some pictures and post them soon as i can one was a real monster!!!

I've also had on for years and love it. I can only echo what aimadeer said, it is a terrific handgun. I have the same 7 1/2" model. I also had it Mag-na-ported, tuned and polished when I purchased it which made quite a difference. With anything other than the 300 gr handloads, it's a dream to shoot. The 300's are pretty stout, even with the Mag-na-port. I also mounted a Leupold 2x for deer hunting and with the intrigal scope mounts, it's easily removable and returns to zero when reattached. Great handgun!

IMO the SRH in 44 mag is probely the strongest 44 mag revolver made ! I had one till I "needed" a Super Redhawlk in 454 ,it was a real shooter. I put a Millet red dot sight on both. I took 8 deer with the 44 and 6 so far with the 454 .

Good luck

I have a RSRH in .44 mag with a leopuld eer 4 power scope. It is a mean looking machine and shoots very good . I also believe it to be the strongest revolver on the market. The .44 mag can take just about any animal that you can hunt in the USA.

I have a Ruger Super Black Hawk in .44mag for sale. It has a Simmons scope, B-square mount. I bought it from a co-worker that needed the money. Let me know if you are interested.

You're thinking of a fine revolver. I have the same gun only in 454 Casull w/a 9 1/2" bbl.The 44 mag you can shoot the 44 specials. In the Casull you can shoot the 45 Colt which is no slouch. The only thing I would do different is get the 7 1/2"bbl. The 9 1/2" is just a little to heavy to tote around all day.I have to agree the Ruger Super Redhawks and Redhawks are probably the strongest guns. The Taurus Raging Bull there is no comparison to the Ruger's. Here is a picture of mine. It wouldn't post.I tried a dozen times. The link does work.

I'm new to handgun hunting this year and I picked up the 454. I have yet to take a deer or bear with it but plan on it this Fall. I just changed the grip on it and put a Leupold M8-2X20 on her and love it to death! She's a shooter

My link didn't work either
