Default WINCHESTER

Had my eye on a Winchester 25.06 but i wanted it in stainless , composite stock but that caliber doesn't come in that. Now i see Winchester has a new gun out, a 25 WSSM. I shot my friends 25.06 and i liked how it shot, how will the 25 WSSM shoot compared to the 25.06 ? I will be using this gun for deer hunting, already have a 30.60 , just want something in stainless/composite and it's got to be a WINCHESTER !

The 25wssm will match 25-06 velocities but not beat them. It does this with 2'' less barrel and a short action rifle. So you get a little lighter, handier rifle wiht the same velocities. If the ammo runs the same price as the 223 wssm it will be around 18$ a box here. I to am a winchester fan. Something to remember when getting into the wssm is that there will not be many factory loads for a while. Currently only Winchester will be loading for the 25wssm but if it takes off like the 270,7,300 wsm others like Federal may start loading for it, but that could be a couple years. Do you reload? One more thing it will be MONTHS before the 25wssm hits the shelfs.

Its a matter of choice. I would wait but then I already have a 257 Roberts which will head shoot a prairie dog at 200 yards or more. I would like to see the 25 in the regular short mag. That should duplicate the old 264 Win Mag and come close to the 257 Weatherby in a much smaller case and a lot less powder. Just My opinion. I would love to have them all. The wife is interested in the 25 WSSM. She shoots a 250-3000 now in the Remington bolt action.

While your waiting I would check out every little gun shop that you can find in your area. Winchester isn't currently offering a composite/ss in 25-06 but I find it hard to believe they never sold them. It sounds like such a great combination I would think there is one out there somewhere.
