RE: Ruger Accuracy

Hey Mike,

I would encourage you to keep your ruger barrel stock, and if you want to get a 22-250 AI, just go buy a new barrel to thread on. That way if you don't like, you can always "go home" so to speak. The upside, you can get another Ruger action and build another gun or restore your "original", the downside...it takes bucks and you have a barrel setting around doing nothing. BAD for barrels.

I'd like to know you got those prices from too...I can get a M77 MKII in 300 WM for $500. The Tikka is about $40 more.

Look on www.gunsamerica.com There are all kinds of good buys on new and used guns. Remember though you have to add the transfer fees and shipping.Last year I got a NIB Ruger M-77 MKII in 300 Win Mag for 425.00 .It's Blued /Walnut stock. I picked it up at BassPro Good buys are out there for those who look for them.

Well guys it looks as though we are all in concensus on the Ruger rifles. Poor boltman must have got the only bad shooter Ruger put out. Must have been made on a Monday or something. My Rugers shoot very well. My 300 WM is probably the best. It shot so good with Remington factory ammo when I got it that it took me several years before I started handloading for it. Waiting until I used up all the factory stuff I bought for it on a clearance at the local Walmart.
You should have no trouble with your Ruger.

I bought a ruger m77 MkII stainless with the old style synthetic stock in 300 win mag about 4 years ago.. And the accuracy is just horrible... My worst group was 1.5" at 100 yds with 150 gr. rem core-lokts!! My best has been slightly under a 1/2 inch with Winchester supreme 180 gr. coated power point plus. Just horrible... LOL I was also able to pull off a 2 in off hand group at 100 yds with this pos.........

Ruger is the rifle for me!!!

I wonder if a gunsmith can ream out the chamber of the existing rifle and what such a job would cost? Hmm...might be worth looking into.
Just had my 06 reamed to an Ackley, cost was $110.00. Have yet to get it down to the range. It is getting warm enough now anyway.
