RE: Opinions on Burris Scopes
I've been dying to try Burris's Electro dot scope. I get permits to call coyotes at night. And in the moon light I wouldn't have to turn on the spot light. Then this of course would mean buying another rifle to put it on.

RE: Opinions on Burris Scopes
Oh yea, oldelkhunter, I got a dandy 6-24X44mm signature with target turrets I will sell ya real cheap. Since they are your scope of choice.
I hear alot of people talk about brightness and all that jazz when talking about scopes. I mean I like a scope to be crisp and clear on a gun, but I don't look for this huge brighness. As long as my target is not blurry so bad I can't make out what to aim at, I am happy. I want a scope that is rugged and good eye relief more than anything. I do want my binocs and spotting scopes to be as bright and nice as possible. I look thru them 100X more than I do my rifles. |

Oh yea, oldelkhunter, I got a dandy 6-24X44mm signature with target turrets I will sell ya real cheap. Since they are your scope of choice I am just saying that I tried this one out and it is better than a comparable vX-II scope in fact it is light years ahead of it designwise, at the store where I bought it and compared to a 1/2 dozen of Vari-xII and III's that my friends at our hunting club own ...if it breaks i realize that Burris CS is not Leupolds.... Out of five I have owned only had a problem with one. I own more Leupolds then anything else by the way and with the intro of the new VX-III probably stay that way for awhile. |

Oldelk, just trying to give you a deal on a scope.:D

RE: Opinions on Burris Scopes
I own 1-burris and no complaints in 3 years. I am not a certain brand guy when it comes to scopes, I have more bushnells and loopy's than any other brand. CS is important to me and if I ran into problems with my Burris which wasn't dealt with properly or timely, you can bet I would never own another. I had that happen with Nikon, a brand some consider excellent but this chap will never own a Nikon optic again. This is only to say all scopes can malfunction and our prespective is somewhat dependant on the support we receive after the fact.
I have a buddy who bought the new FFII and it is just fine with no problems. BTW, he is a leupold man but replaced a VXII with the FFII b/c he had problems. |
RE: Opinions on Burris Scopes
oldelkhunter--I wish my Burris scope was reliable and didn’t have the problems that it has. The Weatherby has a lot of recoil and that is why I bought the Signiture model. The Sightron was on sale for $289.00 when I bought it the Burris was $445.00 in 1991 so you are right, it’s a little more than half. Have you tried a sightron? The Burris is a bear to adjust the mag ring and the l-r up-dn adjustments are stiff. I have two Leupold scopes, one on a 44mag modle 29 and one on a 45/70 guide gun. I wish they had clik stops on the adjustments instead of the friction control.

I have a Burris Signature Series 3x9x50 on a Savage Model 110E chambered in 30.06. Very light gun, kicks like a pack mule on acid. In 4 years I have never had a problem. I would buy another. The posi-lock feature on the new scopes is a good feature, in my opinion.
