Default Thompson Center Rebates?

Has anyone received their rebate yet from Thompson Center? Since the rebate was first offered back in July, I've purchased 3 of their rifles that qualify for the $75 rebate.

One was able to be completed through their online form but the other two didn't have serial numbers that were recognized for some reason and had to be mailed in. It's been well over 8 weeks since the last form was mailed in and I haven't seen or heard a thing. Several friends and relatives are in the same boat. There is an online website listed (status-now or something like that) where you can see the status of your rebate but depending on when you go out there, it either fails to connect to the server or comes back as says no records found. Not good.

I've contacted TC directly and have an automated response that it could take 3-5 business days to receive a reply. That was over a week ago but to be fair, the holiday has backed things up I'm sure. I'll pass on any word I may get but wondering if anyone has actually seen a rebate yet. Given the track record, plus yet another recall on these rifles, I'm starting to wonder....

For anyone else that's curious, I received the below reply from a Smith & Wesson rep.

"For updates you can contact the rebate processing company Milanos at 1-866-963-7933. Also you can check on www.rebateinquiryonline.com with your last name and zip code as well."

The website listed is new/different than the previous website they were using but, it at least works for now...

Keeping this updated for anyone tracking. I received my first rebate yesterday from a submission they received online back in July. They're well beyond their initial 8 week estimate but, it's reassuring to have received something at least.

How well do those T/C rifles shoot? Any idea of how they compare to the similar offerings from Ruger, Savage, etc.? It is not my cup of tea, but I think it is great that fellows have options with the current crop of relatively inexpensive rifles that seem to be well worth the price.

When you factor in the rebate, I paid less than $199 for all of them and with that in mind, I think they are unbeatable for the price. The XPR at $249 (with rebate) is a very close second though IMO. I have a TC Compass in 6.5, 7-08 and .308 so far. I may add a 300 to the mix just because. I've had the 7-08 Compass at the range side by side with a Ruger American and Savage Axis II, both rifles costing $150+ more than the Compass. The trigger is much better on the Axis II and all rifles were shooting great (at or below MOA). While subjective, I think the Compass was the best looking and feeling rifle of the 3 when shouldered and everyone that shot it agreed that rifle is an amazing bang for the buck.

Some gripes though:

The trigger on these after the recall leaves a lot to be desired and is no longer really adjustable even though they still advertise it as such. There are DIY fixes to get the pull back under 4lbs but as a basic hunting rifle, I'm not too worried about it at this point.

The magazine can also be a PITA and takes a long time to "break-in" making it easier to remove. The rotary feature and flush mount is nice, but taking the mag out with gloves is difficult as it tends to stick.

These rifles are also very sensitive to primer depth. I have a ton of crappy Tullammo in .308 that this rifle refuses to shoot (1 in 5 may actually fire). Also had some issues with the Hornady American Whitetail failing to fire in the 308 and 7-08 where I haven't had any issues firing the same ammo in my other rifles.

The bolt will take several rounds of cycling to "break-in" and smooth out but overall it's not bad and once broken in, is actually very smooth.

In the end though, all of these rifles are extremely accurate and have lived up to or exceeded the MOA guarantee (with good ammo of course). I like to tinker and while these rifles didn't need it to shoot great, I pillar beaded and refinished the stocks to give them a more custom look and feel. Are they a Model 70 or Remington 700? No, but for the money they have exceeded my expectations and have been/will be fun project rifles.
