Default Shot the 7mm08 200 yards

ive got a Remington CDL 7mm08 was kinda board and ol lady wasn't home lol so I broke it out and set a target up at 100 yards shot one missed diamond by 1/2"... Moved target out to 200... I've never shot this rifle at 200 yards at a target so I was curious... In my scope it has 4 dots under cross hairs so I wasn't sure what dot would put me close to bull so I chose second dot... Should of used first dot my bullet hit 4" directly over bullseye.... I only had 2 reloads left and I wanted to save them for ground hogs if they pop out... But I'm pretty happy with gun!!! Now I have to get on the reloaded this week end and load a box up

I love the 7-08. Its an inherently accurate cartridge (as are most 7mm's).
I took 3 deer with mine so far. A great little cartridge with minimal recoil.

I've been a HUGE 7mm08 fan for YEARS! It's arguably THE best all-round whitetail cartridge ever designed in MY opinion! For some reason it performs well beyond what it's mild ballistics suggest-in "killing power" (instant kills), bigger game than deer, and range/accuracy! My babygirl 1st started with a 7mm08 and got 2 clean, 1 shot kills on deer her very 1st season, and that's when she was 11! I'm going to build 1 last deer rifle for myself for the rest of my hunting career, and of course it's going to be chambered in 7mm08. I'm going to shoot for sub 6# sans scope, and including lightweight scope/mounts/rings hope to keep it around 6.5# or so to be able to pack it a LOT.

Bear, load you up some hot 139gr Interlocks and slam Elk with that rifle too buddy. I've dropped a few with mine. It's a little light for Elk but within 250-300 yards with the right load it performs quite well on them. As you said, better than the published ballistics would have people believe. Of course I'm one of those idiots that hunts Moose with a little ole .30-30 that has trouble killing anything bigger than a squirrel according to the "experts" so wutdoIknow

Yeah Hornady Interlocks are good bullets, no doubt about it. I kind of prefer Nosler Ballistic Tips on deer and Accubonds on stuff that needs more penetration. Those loads ain't broke so I don't see much point in fixing them. I will try some 1 of these days though. I used to like Sierra Game Kings a LOT.
