Ok fellas, I am debating on this gun heavily. What are your opinions. I really like the looks and the 270 is a great caliber, with many ammunition options(I don' t reload). The Mnt. rifle is avail. in short and long actions which should i choose. As far as scopes what are some opinions. Price does matter some but give me honest opinions, leupold, weaver, nikon, bushnell. And also what power scope. You guys are always helpful, thanks for any input.

Kind of tough to answer unless you tell us what you are going to use the rifle for.
But since you didn' t get any other input I will take a poke at it.
.270 is a good choice for a deer bear antelope rifle, can be stretched to use for elk. It is a long action cartridge.
The Remington Mtn Rifle is as good a choice as any. Do you like it, that is what matters.
I always buy Leupolds vari x III because of the eye relief and they just always work, they are a little more money than most scopes but I hunt a lot.
If you don' t hunt a lot you may not want to spend that much on a scope. I can' t speak from experience on any other scope brands.
As far as magnification, again it depends on what you are going to use it for.
Generally a 3x9 or 2.5x10 is a pretty good choice. Just try to find one with at least 3 1/2" of eye relief.

I do like the 700 actions and use them to build my custom hunting rifles.I would actually select a 7mm-08 for a lighter weight rifle. It is a short action and I prefer the 7mm bore over the .277" .I much prefer the ziess conquest over the leupold as it has superior lenses and coatings for a price comparable to the varixiii..

I own a Mtn. rifle in .280 cal. topped with a Leupold VariXIII 2.5-8x. In my opinion this is as perfect of an all around rifle as it gets, although I only hunt whitetails with mine. It is one sweet rig!!!! Wouldn' t trade it for anything, except maybe for the stainless laminated stocked Mtn rifle.
