Marlin XS7S or the TC Venture?
 

Help me out I am getting a new rifle in 7mm-08 toss up between the Marlin and Thompson Center who swears by there new 5 groove rifling and match grade crown to shoot 1inch groups at 100 yrds! I think I am talking myself into a new TC Vevture..lol

.......and maybe with good reason.

I think it might be better built also.

For the price the Marlins are hard to beat. However with the rebate the Venture is also a good deal....and is probably the better built rifle.

im not trying to stir the pot but hows the trigger on the venture?ive read about it and like what i read,life time warrenty makes a big difference to me

The Venture I tried in the store felt good and very similar to the Icon. Lot of gun for the money IMO.

I didn't directly compare the Venture to it, so I can't help there, but will say the Marlin is a good weapon for the money in my opinion.

I have a Venture in .243 and it's a fabulous shooter. The trigger is excellent. I don't have a scale, but it's fairly light and crisp. They're user adjustable. I've heard great things about the Marlin as well, but haven't shot one. With the rebate the two aren't much different in price, plus the Venture is guaranteed to shoot 1 MOA.

I have a XL7 in 270 win.
And have a 25-06, 30-06,308,6.5x55,6-06,22-243 barrels to switch on it.
Can you do that with your thompson with out paying a gunsmith.

What is the advantage to having a half dozen barrels for your marlin? As cheap as the rifles are, it seems like it would make more sense to buy a half dozen rifles if you want to shoot all those calibers. You'd still have to re sight the rifle after each barrel swap, so you can't just hunt with a .243 one day and a 30-06 the next (unless you have a place to shoot handy).

your right but tell me where you can buy another rifle for $50.00 like I do the barrels. and I live in the country and shoot out the window from my reload room any time I want.
your half a dozen rifles cost $1,800.00
my 6 barrels are just $300.00
you can throw away $1,500.00 all you want.
I'll stick to my way $1,500.00 will buy a lot of bullets and powder.
