Finally dropped 1 w/ the 7-08. pics
My rifle-Remington 700mtlss 7-08
My scope-2.5-8X36 leupold VXIII / Leupold DT mounts& rings
The ammo- Handload-154gr hornady interlock over 48gr H4895 (est.2600fps)
Shot was about 40 yds. entered through the left shoulder, exited just behind the right, tore up both lungs, heavy 60yd bloodtrail.
I absolutly love this rifle and caliber!
Alot of buzz around here about the 7mm-08 but I havent seen too many pics of game killed w/ it, so I thought Id post a few.

You know it's sort of funny that you're using 154 gr bullet out of what is suppose to be a 140 gun. The funny part is that i get my best groups using 150 Win PP. Mine will shoot 140's well but it seems to light up and shine with the 150's.

Well since you asked, I hope you don't have a weak stomach.
Shot this doe saturday with my 7-08 and a Nosler 140gr Ball. Tip.
Range: 12 feet (144 inches) if you don't count the 25 feet I was up in the tree..... she was directly underneath me.
Hit her right tween the eyes, and everything from the scalp down dropped out the bottom.
There was no tracking required.

7mm-08 hard to beat in my opinion
I have 3 rifles in the great 7mm-08 cartridge and they always seem to be my go to guns for my yearly KY deer hunting trips .
Ruger #1 SS w/laminated stock topped with a Nikon 3x9x40
Remington 700 BDL topped with a Burris II 3x9x40
TC Encore SS 24 ported topped w/ Leupold VXII 3x9x40
I use Federal Fusion and Federal Bear Claws both in 140gr with very good results, one shot and dropped with-in sight.

Impressive. When the time comes to get my wife a deer rifle, I'm leaning more and more away from the 243 Win to the 7mm-08.
Oh, and BTW, that doe looks like a real hog in those pics. How much did she weigh approx?

I love all my 7mm-08's but my fiance uses a Rem 700 ADL in a 243 that I give her and trust me it is a tack driver as well. She took 2 nice fat does in KY about 2wks ago one at 140 yds and one at 75 yds, both heart shots. The 243 will do the job as well with less kick.
