30-06 Question
I haven't hunted in many years, but am now getting back into it. I live in North Florida and want to start off with deer and pigs. I had it in my head to get a shotgun, but after much research, I am leaning towards the MArlin XS&. My question is, is a 30-06 to much gun for pigs? Do to budgeting, I want to start off with a gun that will take both, and then get a shotgun as I ease into Turkey hunting. Any thoughts? Any help is much appreciated.

30-06
The 30-06 is a great choice. Probably the best part about shooting the 30-06 is that you can buy inexpensive ammo from Wally World. Even though it is inexpensive ammo since you have the power of a 30-06 the cheap ammo will serve you well in a hunting situation, and hopefully you can practice a little more with cheaper ammo. Tom.

Personally, I'm a fan of the .308Win, but the 30-06 has to be the most versatile gun out there. There's a boat-load of ammo made for this chambering, in a smathering of bullet weights, so you will very easily find ammo that suits your needs. Plus, if/when you plan on hunting somewhere other than North Florida, the -06 will gladly tag along as your hunting buddy. There's nothing in North America that will survive a well placed shot from an -06 with a proper bullet choice.
