A few of my hunting pards have Savages and I'll admit their accurate, I just wish they didn't look like poo in a stick!

The Classic series Savages look good and the newer rifles are definitely improved aesthetically. I have a new Savage 116 in .30-06 with a black synthetic Accustock. It's a hunting tool, so I'll just beat it up for a while. When it starts to look real nasty, I'll get it dipped in Realtree AP for $120. It will be like having a new gun.

From what everyone who writes reviews has to say about savages, they have the best factory trigger on the market; hands down.

If you ever fire a Tikka you will amend that comment. I have fired both and Tikka's have the best trigger in this price range.

That's presumptuous.

Sort of like saying a gun has the best trigger on the market because of just reading reviews as opposed to having the actual gun?

That's not what I was saying. Forming opinions through personal experience and researching what experts have to say are not mutually exclusive ways to go about shopping for a firearm; you can do both. The people who test guns over and over for a living know what they're talking about so their opinions should be welcomed.

In the end, it comes down to personal preference. Some people don't like Savage's Glock-like trigger and that's fine; other's do.

Truth be told, neither of the mentioned rifles wets my whistle.
