Benelli .300 mag
Hey yall - has anyone else tried Benelli's .300 mag? I subscribe to most of the magazines and the gunsmith I use is someone I consider to be as well versed in guns as anyone - but I can't find much info on the rifle.
I have one and my opinion is very mixed - but I keep realizing I WANT it to do well every time, and I want to keep it, despite some problems. So, I'm curious.
Thanks -

RE: Benelli .300 mag
Six months ago a buddy and I decided to buy semi-autos for deer hunting. We both own AR's but wanted sporter style rifles for hunting. After some consideration, I got thesynthetic Browning BAR short trac in .308, he bought a synthetic Benelli R-1 in .300 WSM. With my BAR shooting Hornady's 150 grain SST I get 1" to 1.5" groups which is what I expect with a hunting rifle shooting factory ammo. Sometimes he gets great groups, sometimes he gets 5-6" groups. That rifle is very finicky. One thing is for certain- his rifle's zero changes drastically when he takes it apart for cleaning. Just my $.02
