RE: Tikka or Browning

Herman, FYI--American Rifleman magazine (NRA) reviewed the Tikka T3 very recently , you might want to get a hold of the article. they liked it but the only caliber it shot poorly was .270 WSM! They couldnt get it to print under 4" at 100 yards with various scopes. All the others calibers they tested in the T3 were MOA or better but they couldnt get the 270 WSM to do it despite switching scopes. Was it that particular gun or the way they made the 270 WSM?? I dont know?

Thanks Murf, that is what I am looking for whether the spacers in the magazine made difference in chambering rounds. I was thinking that was one reason for the short mags to shorten the chambers.I have never personally seen one of the whitetail hunters yet, just pictures online and listen to what people say about them.
I got enough rifles to get me through the next couple of seasons[8D]so I want to handle one before I make up my mind.
Its funny though I usually go to the range about once a week and hang out at a gun shop and yet have never seen anyone with a tinka, guess its a big old world out there.

I have both a a-bolt .270win and a tikka 22-250, both are synthetic/stainless and both are excellent rifles I have no complaints. If I had to choose I' d probably go with a tikka. I use factory loaded norma softpoint ammo for both rifles and both have schmitt and bender 8x56' s on them and are fitted with harris bipods.
I' m shooting approx 100-150 red foxes a year with the tikka and 150-200 deer with the browning.
I don' t know what prices are like in the states but if it' s in your range then a sako 75 is definetly worth a look , I have 1 in .243 with the same rig as the other and it is a great rifle.
