If the "big" CZ's are made like their little brothers (.22's) then it's a no-brainer. My CZ American .22 is one of the best made .22's I've ran across in a long time. I think you have to go back to when Remington and Winchester made the 40X and the Model 52's to get a rifle of comparable make.

I think the terrible truth is several foreign gun mfg's continually get better and better while most of our American gun mfg's get worse and worse...mainly because of 2 factors.
1. American gun companies have to spend a lot of their money fighting off idiot lawsuits.
2. American gun companies still believe advertising hype about their products trumps quality.

which is better?
CZ has better fit and finish I will say that. The only con is the bolt handle and the corresponding restriction on type of scope you can put on rifle in respect to ring height. You can find aftermarket stocks for it such as the one AHR produces.
Remington 798 is a hell for strong action has in my opinion a nicer bolt handle design. It is also chambered in 7mm Mag and 300 Win mag and 375 mag which in a CZ comes onlyin the large Magnum action and all its related weight although they have 1 or 2 models that are chambered in 300 win mag built on their standard receiver . The Remington is also to be offered in a stainless action/barrel.
The only dislike on the 798 is that Charles Daly sold them for 100 dollars less for the same rifle...Must cost 100 dollars to rollstamp a Receiver with the Remington Name.
Which one would I buy .........................The Remington..
