RE: NEW X-Bolt
Rammer,
The info reads like; Detachable rotary magazine - plastic??? adjustable three-lever Feather Triggerâ„¢- Note the trademark scope bases are attached to the receiver using four screws per base - not attached/included??? A new bolt unlock button works with the top-tang safety to offer enhanced (?)safety while unloading Knowing you, you're looking at the X-Bolt Stainless Stalker, I want the same one but in 7MM Rem Mag. But first I need this one in .204 http://www.savagearms.com/16fcss.htm |
RE: NEW X-Bolt
ORIGINAL: oldelkhunter It has a different magazine, stock style, an improved trigger and a 3 position safety. It also has a unique scope base system. If it is like most Abolts it will shoot lights out. +1, Tom. |
RE: NEW X-Bolt
ORIGINAL: Sheridan Rammer, The info reads like; Detachable rotary magazine - plastic??? It is plastic like a Tikka according to my buddy. Not sure if I like this, but if its as durable as the Tikka mags, it won't be an issue. adjustable three-lever Feather Triggerâ„¢- Note the trademark He said the trigger is smooth as glass on the rifle they have in. Said its a HUGE improvement over the standard A-Bolts. scope bases are attached to the receiver using four screws per base - not attached/included??? As far as I know there aren't bases that come with the gun, thats the way he made it sound. Said the bases were a special order, and they don't have any in stock at the Sportsman's Warehouse. A new bolt unlock button works with the top-tang safety to offer enhanced (?)safety while unloading Again not sure, he said the bolt worked when on safe. Knowing you, you're looking at the X-Bolt Stainless Stalker, I want the same one but in 7MM Rem Mag. I would like the Stainless version, but I can't bring myself to pay Browning's stainless rifle price. I have 2 of the standard Stalker A-Bolts, and have yet to see one of them rust. But first I need this one in .204 The Savage will be a good shooter. I can't stand my Savage's super flimsy tupperware stock. I am going to bed the action, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I will be dumping it on the used gun market. It sure shoots nice though. http://www.savagearms.com/16fcss.htm |

RE: NEW X-Bolt
Rammer I bedded my savage tupperware stock and it helped but it is gone for a custom buildlaminatestock built locally and i final fitted it with not to much effort.Huge improvement and better money spent then bedding the tupperware(just can'tturn a pigs ear into a silk purse;)). So if you like your savage, maybe worth checking into either a laminate (ie: boyds or richards microfit both offer a number).
Sorry I haven't handled the x-bolt and being a southpaw doubt I will for a while eitherseeing they don't offer it for us wrong side of the bolt guys...YET[:o]!! Sounds like some good improvements over the abolt, who's knock from my opinion has always been the trigger, safety and silly mag design. I personally don't like a polymer(plastic) mag and the fact they seem cheaper but yet when buying a replacement or spare they are NOT???? All said theyhave proved themselves to be durable in track record with the likes of tikka's, soit's appear to be a perception thing more then function. As to the 325wsm,I'll admit it did spark some interest from me in theorybut as a reloader the choice for bullets locally and the lower BC of the 8mm bullets in generalmake it less appeallingafter the surface is scratched then the .338wm to me.In the light for grain section I see little to no benefit forthe .325 over the.300's that are already well entrenched. So the spark never materialized any flames for me. |
RE: NEW X-Bolt
The only thing I dislike about A-Bolts is NOT being able to work the bolt unless the safety is off.
