A lot of what type of rifle is used has to do withthe area you hunt. I hunt the northeast with hills and woods. So my choice is a levergun, usually in 30-30 with a 2-7 Leupold setting on top. My furthest shot will normally be under 150 yds.

Kimber 8400 in 30-06/ Leupold VX-III or Marlin Guide gun in 45-70.

Wow, lots of factors in that one. Like how much you want to spend, how a certain gun feels to you, what your purpose is and how you think it looks.

I personally like Savage guns, but if money was no concern there are others I would try. I am pretty fond of Browings, but there are probably better for as much money.

i have both the remington 700 and marlin 336 and can't decide between the 2. they are both great rifles!

I like the Savage line myself. Tikka is pretty good too. Really depends on what our personal preference is
