A lot of what type of rifle is used has to do withthe area you hunt. I hunt the northeast with hills and woods. So my choice is a levergun, usually in 30-30 with a 2-7 Leupold setting on top. My furthest shot will normally be under 150 yds.

Kimber 8400 in 30-06/ Leupold VX-III or Marlin Guide gun in 45-70.

Wow, lots of factors in that one. Like how much you want to spend, how a certain gun feels to you, what your purpose is and how you think it looks.

I personally like Savage guns, but if money was no concern there are others I would try. I am pretty fond of Browings, but there are probably better for as much money.

i have both the remington 700 and marlin 336 and can't decide between the 2. they are both great rifles!

Personally, I like the dearly departed Winchester! However, my answer to who makes the best Whitetail rifle, is that you are putting the horse before the cartridge. Most new guns are capable of out-shooting the average shooter, so to me the caliber will be more important than the gun brand. Take into account the terrain, shooting ranges, decide on a caliber that fits your needs, decide on a gun type, and then decide on the gun brand.

my deer rifle(and only right now) is a browning blr in 30-06 with a leupold 3-9x40

it shoots awesome

i've hunted with remingtons,savages,winchesters,nef's,mossbergs and now my favorite is a tikka t3 270 win. being a lefty you just can't beat tikka's price for what you get. light weight,great trigger,weather proof and very accurate.

I have hunted with Rugers, Marlins, T/C Encores, Blasers, and Sauers in calibers ranging from 223 to 300 WSM. My current go-to guns are a Blaser R-93 in 308, Marlin 336SS in 30-30, and a Sauer 202 in 270 WCF.

In my opinion, the brand of rifle is a personal preference, and any caliber in the 270, 308, 30-06 range will work great.

mossberg 30.06 atr 100 for around $250.00 is amazing. I'm shooting 150 gr. core lokt all 5 shots touching one another at 100yds.

Remington model-700.

Caliber for deer? Flip a coin. 25-06, 270, 280 or 30-06. There are a ton of short action or long action magnums that will do the trick also.

My go-to deer rifle is a Ruger M-77 chambered in 25-06.

Oh, that's easy: Marlin does - any flavor of their 336.

I use three rifles for deer hunting. I use my Marlin 336 35 Rem. when I know my shots are going to be under 100 yards or when I'll be hunting in deep thick woods or brush or when I'll be on the move. It's just a nice handy little rifle. I use my Remington 700 280 Rem. when I know my shots are going to be pretty long or if I'm going to be in a stand. I use my Winchester model 88 308 Win. when I'm not sure how I'm going to hunt. It's a cross between my two other rifles. Pretty quick handling, fast follow up shots, VERY accurate and still shoots flat for longer shots. Idon't think there is any such thing as "a bestdeer rifle". Just my $0.02. [/align]

Easy. Apart from resale, a 4x4 truck is a lot more useful than a Bentley (or whatever)
