RE: Lever guns

How many of you folks use leverguns and what kind are they?
I have a Browning LBR .22 long rifle
And a Winchester model 94 post 64 in 30-30
I love the lever guns.
I plan to get more when I get out of gunsmithing school.
And I love revolvers.

Obviously we are all into lever guns, but has anyone noticed a recent surge in their popularity? Seems like I have.

I know Marlin's XLR line and Hornady's new ammo has really helped with a growing trend in leveractions. I have helped get a few friends converted to levergunners after seeing and shooting my rifles. Usually they call me Doc or Tex when I get out of the truck and rack the lever on my Marlin when they are all carrying bolt guns or AR-15s. I have nothing against either of those but my shoulder demands a levergun and nothing less because it feels great and always goes bang. I'm honestly to see this many people who are still levergunners and don't suffer from incurable-magnumitis

I totally agree 2006 that the new LE ammo along with Marlins XLR has greatly improved how people look at levers. Have you heard Hornady has now come out with .44 mag and .357 mag made for levers and not a revolver shell. I have a .44 mag Henry to try out the .44 mag load.

I also have an Ithaca lever in 22 mag that I cherish.

I bought my son a Win 94 30-30 the day after he was born. Turned out to be one of the last of the 94's before Winchester announced they were no longer making them. Bought my daughter a Henry Golden Boy 22 magnum with the big hoop lever the day after she was born. My kids are not quite 3 and 1, so neither rifle has been fired yet. They might just stay that way, too, as I'm sure I'll pick them up something else (something they can beat around more without making me wince every time) when the time comes for them to start out.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record but I also love lever guns!
I only own Winchester Model 94's, in the following guns:

444 Big Bore
44 Timber Carbine
30/30 100th Anniversary Ranger
9410 Traditional
9422 WMR

While y'all are reading, I'm looking for a Model 94 chambered in the .307, if you know about one for sale, please let me know!

Great Thread!

I've a Marlin 336 in 30-30. It is the 5th deer rifle I've owned, and favorite. If I'd gotten one of these 30 years ago, I probably would have kept to it. Not near as loud or hard-recoiling as the 30-06 i used to use, nicer to carry, better looking, and knocks the deer down just as hard. Relatively cheap ammo and very classy looks just adds to it.

Killed a five-pointer with it this morning!
