RE: 45-70 buffalo classic

I am pretty sure there is a law against putting a scope on a single shot 45-70??? If not then there should be!!! If you want a scope then get a
Marlin lever action. IMO they just do not look right on a rifle designed to be shot with open sights. Tom.

well, lol, while it may not be pretty, I'm no Quigley anymore I don't think. I'll have to see when it gets here how I can do with the open sites.

Lots of things have changed since I hit 50 years old. These strange aches and pains, and what the heck is up with having to change my glasses prescription every 9 months.

You know, when I was sighting in the scope I was sure I could hear the ghosts of the mountain men saying, I wish we had one of those. The scope is the Leupold VXIII and has not moved. For the record, I do on a Marlin leveraction rifle. It is the 1895, again with a Roguard finish and NP3 internals, Wild West Trigger and Bear Proof Ejector. It kicks harder and cannot shoot as far or as accurate as the Buffalo Classic. MV out!

You are probably right. They would probably have loved to have a 50 caliber Barrett??? Tom.

There is also the CVA Optima Elite which comes with a 45-70 barrel.

Anyway, as soon as I harvest my first animal with the Buffalo Classic I am removing the scope and putting the Wesson & Harrington back on. It is way more fun to shoot that way. MV out!

I have a browning 1885 high wall in .45-70 and noticed with 300 grain bullets it packs a bit of recoil. Does anyone else notice this in theres? Should I try a heavier bullet?

It depends completely on your load. Where are the pictures of your HighWall 1885 Browning. Tom.
