Default WEATHERBY'S????

do the Weatherby's actually shot more accurate than Remington's Winchester's and other company guns? also are they worth the money?

I was only aware that Brownings were made in Japan....

I think that Weatherby actually has an accuracy Guarantee...you would have to email them to ask them about it.

I only like older Remingtons(although I may try a Sendero someday) and not really fond of Winchester either.

If I were to recommend a rifle it would be a Tikka. VERY affordable and GOOD accuracy(as good as Weatherby).

bear72,

Weatherby rifles are now made in the USA.
The Weatherby action is the strongest in the world and the only one that can withstand chamber pressure up to 200,000 psi.
The Remington 700 in comparison can withstand up to 140,000 psi.
To me, Weatherby is better than all other production rifles and some custom rifles costing far more.
But, no, it's not really more accurate than most of the others.
I consider the Sako 75 a close second to the Weatherby among production rifles with the Winchester Classic coming in third.

Sag.

I have used a browning ss 30-06 for the last 4 years. Never had any problems at all. Have a friend that only shoots weatherby- he has 270mag, 300mag, and 30-378. Swears he will never own any other gun. I have got a chance to shoot the 30-378 and it is a great gun - handles great and very accurate. He has had all of them set up by a gunsmith. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with any of the major gun brands. My brother shoots a remington and it is a great gun. Just pick the gun you are happy with and that you are comfortable shooting. I almost bought a remington 700 but the browning had a little shorter stock and handled much better to me, so take some time and try to look at all the different models possible.

I believe that all the Mark V series are made in the US. The Vanguard series are made by Howa, and are designed for standard pressures. The Howa may be made in Japan, but it has one of the smoothest actions I have seen. A Remington or Winchester bolt feels clumsy in comparison.

I think the weatherby is a far better rifle than any Remington made today.I ve shot a few weatherby's and found them very accurate. I don't have Remingtons in my safe.Mostly Brownings. I'd shoot my Brownings, made in Japan ,against any other make. It's a matter of choice. Some people shoot very well and some people don't shoot enough.

I heartily second DG's opinion. I thought I was the only one who thought this.
