I have had good luck using H110 with 20 grains and a 210gr Jacketed bullet...get around 1300fps and it shot very well out of my Black Hawk.

James-here's my .02 cents worth on powder. H110 is the standard by which all other magnum powders are compared by. Ball powder is dirty unless you have close to max loads, however it is somewhat temp sensitive and what shoots good in 40 degree weather may be too hot in 80 degree weather. The dots(green or blue) burn dirty. 4227 is a 1/2 a tad slow for .41 mag.

I have H-110, 4227, Unique and AA#9 on hand. I load for the 45 LC and 44 Mag as well.

James - I Think you just need to get yourself a TC pistol frame and a 243 barrel for it......

He is probably talking about the New Model Blackhawk. I have one and it shoots great. I have been using the new Federal Fusion Ammo and it is great too. The recoil is solid and not too bad in a heavy gun. You will like it. Ruger sells a great right side-crossdraw holster too. MV out!

The 4 & 5/8" blackhawk is easily my favorite overall to shoot, getting me out to 50 yards which is all I ask for in a hand gun. The 41 maggie will get the job done, too. It is hunters that keep that round in sales! PD's gave up on it long ok. Just caused too much bleeding.

I don't think I need a 243 barrel for my Encore, I use an air rifle for that kind of game.

I really wanted a good short barreled revolver and that one felt good in my hand. My 44 has the 7 1/2 inch barrel.
