Wondering what prices are for the rem sps varmit in your area?
I stopped by the place I bought a sps in 22/250 ($419) and a SS sps in 270 ($459) last year.He had a 243 in the sps varmit and I was thinking about getting it.He didn't have a reg barrel sps to check the prices on but on the varmit he had $549. Have the remingtons went up that much since last year? Checked rem site and they had the same suggested price on both the reg barrel and the varmit barrel $604.Don't remember what the suggested price was when I got the reg barrel, but pretty sure it was more than 55 bucks less than the suggested price.

Here are some numbers from the place where I benchmark prices for my wish list:
The only varmint model they show is this one: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=sps+varmint
and the same cartridge in the the regular, non-varmint configuration: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/97333
And regular in .243: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/97355
And .243 in Stainless: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/97263
Is the varmint model Stainless? They don't have a picture on that first one, so I can't tell. Also, there may have been a price increase, as searching that whole site for SPS shows some models @ $398, as if maybe it was last year's production.
Hope this helps,
FC

Thanks for the info.I saw that they had the sps varmit in 243 for $479.
I guess rem had a price change this year. These are blue, but think I would go with ss if they had them.
There is a gun show here next month will check it out and see what prices they have. Don't really have to have one but think I would like to play with one.
Both the reg barrel sps I have will shoot one hole group on a good day, when I got the 22/250 it wouldn'teven chamber a factory load, sent it back and it shoots very good now,Shot a one hole group with the 270 ss the first day I had it at the range with a factory fussion 130 gr bullet.
On the second target where I marked out the 308,where I had shot the target on 3-20 under that x is another group I shot with the 308.That group with the 270 was shot with a 130 sst.

i bought my varminter in .22-250 for 550 at dick's sporting goods. it has the 26" heavy barrel, OD green stock(which i havent seen anywhere else and i like it..) and came with rings, bases and a 4-12x40 scope. rings were stripped before i touched them. put one weaver quad locks and bases. scope isnt to bad for a generic, cheap scope. works for now...till i get my new one.
