RE: Gun Safes
I bought a Stack On from Dick's Sporting Goods this past fall. Not sure what the fire rating is, it holds up to 36 guns. I had to take the door facing off going into the room that I put it in. I didn't bolt it to the floor, as heavy & bulky as it is ( it took 5 people to unload & get into my house )and having to take the door frame & stuff off if someone wants it that bad they can have it.

I just bought a Liberty-Timber Ridge form gander mountain today. It has a 45 minute fire rating, and weighs in close to 700 lbs. From all the safes that I had looked at it was the best value, and had similar features. I was able to pick it up for 899 (burgandy gloss finish), but could have gotten a textured finish for 799. Gander mountain had a special, get one of their CC's and save 10% on the purchase. So all in all, I think I got a good safe at a great price...

RE: Gun Safes
A locksmith told me yesterday that I should put a bottle of water down in the bottom of my safe in case of fire, that way, in the case of a fire, the bottle would eventually heat up and burst, creating steam and preventing anything from catching on fire. At least that's the way I understood his advice. Anybody ever heard of this?
