Which rifle scope should I buy?
I have a remington .270 that came with a bushnell scope, but i can barely see a deer at 200 yards with it. I need to get a new one, but I'm not sure what kind. I was thinking of either a redfield or nikon, and I was wondering if anybody had one of these, and how well they worked. I might also consider a leupold. I dont want to spend more that $300 or $350 if I can help it. Any help about the best scope for the price would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
have been told that redfield is no more, that a co-op co. bought them. so dont know if i would trust that deal. i have old redfields and they are vg scopes, new ones i dont know!? i dont think you can go wrong spending alittle more and buying a leupold. i never had a problem w/one and for the price their optics are second to none. hope this helps.

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
Nikon Buckmaster, Simmons AeTec, Zeiss Conquest, Bushnell 3200 Elite; all are priced around $200 and are excellent scopes. They all have the infamous duplex type crosshairs; imho, too heavy for all round use-I like fine cross hairs. These are all very sericeable scopes, bright, and will suit most folks needs for Whitetail, Muley, etc. Again if you are looking for a varmit scope, the cross hairs are too heavy.

Some of the best advice I ever got was get the best optics you can afford. Skimp on other things bur, never on optics and you'll never regret it. Recommend the Leupold III.

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
I SPENT $270 FOR MY LEUPOLD "VX-II 3-9x40" YOU CAN NEVER EVER GO WRONG WITH THIS, THEY BACK UP THERE PRODUCT FOR THE LIFETIME, THEY DO THIS BECAUSE IM SURE 9 OUT OF 10 NEVER WILL HAVE A PROBLEM.
I ALSO HAVE A NIKON BUCKMASTER 3-9x40, I TELL YOU WHAT, FOR A $200 SCOPE IT WELL WORTH IT, CLEAR, BRIGHT, CRISP. |
RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
I have 6 nikons and buckmasters, they all work very well
but had one on my encore theis year and while hunting noticed the cross hairs were broke,it looked like an x instead of a crosss hair.Sent it back for repair.I have simmons, tasco armsport, and the ones I have work well. I bought a Burres just before hunting season and I think I really like it,it has the balistic plex.Took 2 deer with it allready but will shoot it more this summer. http://www.hunting-pictures.com/memb...ght&encore.jpg |
RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
if you want to drop the money on a leupold but if you cant see a deer at 200 yards with a bushnell scope i think you might want to get eyeglasses first, they might not be the best but they arent that bad

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
Some other fairly good ones are Weaver and the higher end Swifts or look for a deal on a new Leupold VxII or a used VxIII.

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
My next scope is going to be a Nikon Buckmaster. But as far as your question you should put your 300 into a Leupold. From what ive heard its one of the best you can buy for the money. I havent heard anything bad about them. Dont know much about redfield, sept that i only know one person who owns one.

RE: Which rifle scope should I buy?
If you shop around you can get a good deal. In 2002 I bought a Leupold 3x9x50 including shipping. $338.95 Should be cheaper now.
