Beware of Pighead56... he just likes to agitate whom ever he can.
Your question is valid and warrants an answer. I have never seen this in any gun shop Ipatronize however, you could give the Leupold guys a call and inquire as to the red splatters. They may give you an answer right then and there.
I also do alot of flyfishing and the Abel reel company has started doing this to their fly reels for about 2 years now. Wild paint schemes to appeal to those wishing to be unique!
If you call Leupold, leave a post with their answer. I'm curious now that you mentioned it.

I'll call the shop on Monday when they open. You could tell this was a factory paint scheme it looked to be mixed in with the normal black more then just splattered on. It was on LPS scopes, VX 2's and 3's. They are a pretty big Leupold dealer and have about 100 Leupolds behind counter, maybe 20 were out of the boxes with new paint scheme.

If you check out the custom shop at the leupold website it should show colors etc and info about custom scope colors etc. I got one of them myself, aVX-IIthat is splattered white, tan and black and matches thecolor of the laminate stock. Was looking for a regular matte Lupe but they had this one for sale at the same price so why not. In fact theyhad a whole bunch of them which made me think they were not that unusual. Hope it helps.

Yup the circus is back in town. Sorry to hear he hasn't taken my advice to bite on the barrel. The moron is so predictable, funny thing is he always responds to his posts from another one of his personalities.

I called the shop and they said it just something new from Leupold. They have grey paint and red paint schemes on the scopes. They said other places should start having them. They were just included in their last shipment nothing they specifically ordered from the custom shop. The place is called Hendershots and its in Hancock Md.
IMO I thought they were ugly but we all know what opinions are like.

Its just not marketed at hunters. More of the target crowd/tactical crowd (or varmint crowd). No different than sporting clays shotguns with pink stocks (ref: my girlfriend). Just not designed for stealth...because for the folks that buy that sort of thing, its not about stealth, its about standing out.
