We have a Ruger #1 and it will put shots on top of each other. It is a excellent caliber for deer sized animals.

I own the Blued Walnut one, I like it very much when Im feeding Federal Game Kings or Win Silvertips through it. I have had some problems getting a good handload for it, but thats not anything to do with the gun. Between my friends and I we own 3 of these M77 in 25-06 and it seems like all of them shoot the Win Silvertip commercial ammo the best. IMHO it is my favorite deer cartridge.

Quarter bores are excellent whitetail deer killers. Good luck.

The M77 is a fine hunting rifle.
Mauser Action is rock solid.
Scope mounting system is the best there is.
I don't like the trigger, but that is easily remedied.

The .25-06 isone of the best deercartridges available"."

I can't comment on the gun because everything i own is Remington but the 25.06 is my favorite caliber for deer. Mild recoil, flat shooting and hits the target hard. It's pure deer poison and absolutely kills em like lighting.

25-06 is an excellent varmit to deer sized choice. Never been a fan of any ruger beside the 10-22, sorry can't help you much with that portion[&:]
